What does environmental health mean to you? Share your thoughts in 25-50 words and we'll post them on this site.

Environmental Health is. . . (please limit your comments to 25-50 words and press SEND):

Environmental Health. . .

. . . is a safe and healthy place for everyone to live, work, and play.

. . . is a dynamic process, in which community members and decision makers think proactively, understand the implications of their decisions, and make choices based on a system that values future generations. It creates sustainable communities for children and adults to live, work, learn, and play, so that everyone may reach their fullest potential emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

. . . is available to all, and respects the many diverse voices in our communities. It encourages leadership and capacity building among all people, and creates opportunities for people to gather and share their experiences with one another.

. . . means taking action, and advocating for equitable policies that do not discriminate based on age, sex, race, or income. It acknowledges the disproportionate burden of environmental injustices that often fall to marginalized groups, and gives voice to all groups in the decision-making processes.

. . . means accountable community leaders and empowered citizens who possess the awareness, knowledge, and skills to monitor and respond to environmental health concerns that affect our communities.

. . . focuses on the health interrelationships between people and their environments, promotes human health and well-being, and fosters a safe and healthful environment.
